Whooo! How many times have you said or the heard the term “I am about to be extra petty today?” Ladies, ladies! I know we have all heard it. In my case, I said and acted on it more times than I can count. Recently, God checked me about being petty, sending subliminal messages on social media, or screen-shotting certain images. Once you learn the power that you possess, you will understand the anointing of God will destroy yokes. Therefore, you will not become a partaker in the worlds terminology of being petty. God begin to convict and minister to me. “How can you build women? Encourage them to learn to love themselves. Yet, on the back end you’re being petty?” OUCH!! Has God ever checked you so good, that you felt you needed a turtle shell to hide in? I felt like that; but,it pushed me to look within myself--allowing the fire to burn away those impurities of being petty.
Ladies! Now you know, it is easier to clap back than to keep quiet. There are times we have to learn to use the power God has given us to shift the atmosphere. Many times, it is done simply by being quiet. As women, we always have something to say, advise, suggest, or recommend. There are seasons God will simply say, “Shhhhhhh”. I am learning silence is freedom! To be honest, I fought within my flesh; because, I did not want to look like a punk to the other person. In that moment, I realized I was not allowing the power of God to work within. It seemed foolish to me--to walk away from situations or arguments by simply being quite or responding okay. The Lord, took me to 1 Corinthians 1:24-28, it reads: 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. 26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are. Recently I encountered a situation, where one of my daughter’s friend’s mom, was throwing shade on Facebook. I knew she was referring to my child. (Now you know we don’t play about our kids). My first thought was to respond on her post, with a nice nasty comment letting her know I read the post and to put her in her place. My second thought was to make a subliminal post in regards to what she had posted. My third thought was to delete her. Whoo! It took the POWER of Jesus and all the angels that day to keep me near the cross. Literally, I talked to myself for hours on how I was going to handle the situation. The Lord whispered to me, “Who has control over your emotions? Say NOTHING, write NOTHING!” When you are accustomed to having a quick and sharp response, but you have reached a place where you cannot afford to respond out of your emotions; it crushes your flesh, but lifts your spirit. In your flesh you cry, because you are saying “I do not have to take this.” Jesus reminds you He took it all, so that we can possess the same power. Being a woman of many words, I have learned to humble myself and really get low before God---to maintain the characteristics of Christ. Becoming more aware of your thoughts, will help you gain the power He has designed. The thoughts, in our head, trickles down to our hearts. The Bible tells us, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Guard your heart; out of it springs the issues of life. I pray that we begin to guard our minds, hearts, and mouth as we strive to be more like Jesus. Realizing the power and capabilities that is within your Christian identity provides an opportunity to shift the atmosphere or any circumstance in your life. Once you begin to activate the power, He has imparted into you; you are able to recognize and react to the attacks. When the attacks come, you must pray. Praying is Power! When your emotions are rising, pray. When you want to be petty, pray instead. I will not say this lesson has not been without challenges. He has helped me to overcome and win. I smile knowing that I have represented Him well. In the end, I believe our greatest desire is to please, to exemplify and to showcase his love to the world! Activate and operate the POWER He has given you! Remember, you’re to “POWERFUL to Be petty!” Notice, petty is in all lowercase for a reason--- Being petty means you have to go low to make someone else feel small. When you are POWERFUL, you rise above the situation! The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Great blog especially in today climate of speak your mind no matter the consequence. Love that God doesn’t allow us to stay the same but does that internal work of transformation 💕
